Yeah I know you can’t really see people well - but at least it’s evidence I did attend.
Three quick things I learned at my reunion.
- Even though we lived at the school together we didn’t really know each other as well as we thought. An example being one classmate who told me she had always known all she wanted to be was a wife and mother while I remembered her being career minded. Apparently she was more correct than I as she is a stay at home mom now.
- Who we married became a big part of how we continued to evolve as people and the interests we have. One classmate now drives a Harley and I’m fairly certain that her interest in that came vicariously from her spouse.
- My high school class is weird - still. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way - they are all very nice people but for the most part they are simply older versions of the goofballs they were as teenagers. Some are a little more mellow while some are a little less so, but as a group they are largely recognizable.
The last thing I’ll say for now is I was surprised at how much fun it was to see people, get nostalgic, and be affirmed that 20 years later they were happy to see me and I to see them.  That wasn’t meant to sound self-deprecating if it did. It was more of a comment on humanity in general. Most of us are caught up enough chasing kids, search engines (hehe) and dollars that we forget about the people we are not directly involved with on a daily basis. If you get a chance to go to a reunion or just catch up with old friends sometime soon do so.  You might be as surprised as I was by how much fun it is.
