On the final day of sessions at PubCon Las Vegas 2007 David Caruso (star of CSI Miami) dropped by to look around the expo area and the Las Vegas Convention Center in general. He and partner Nils Lar were about to announce a new technology company at CES (Lexicon Digital Communications which he talks about with CNET’s Kara Tsuboi here) and wanted to see what the location was like. I got a chance to speak to both Mr. Caruso and Mr. Lar for a moment but they were very vague about their plans just as they were later in the CNET video report.
Also similar to what can be seen in the CNET video with Kara the television star likes to flirt. My wife was standing nearby watching as David Caruso had his picture taken in the convention center by a professional photographer he had brought with him. During a break in taking photos he walked over to her and commented that she was very attractive and asked if she would like her picture taken with him.
So, it’s true that David Caruso showed no interest in a picture taken with me while I spoke to him. It’s also true that he sought out my wife for a photo. Luckily, I can salve my ego with the knowledge that my wife is more attractive than I am AND the fact that I don’t want “Horatio Caine” (Caruso’s character name on the show) flirting with me. : )
More seriously, David Caruso seemed like a nice guy and was remarkably patient about having his picture taken or giving an autograph to those that asked. If I had been more aggressive about getting a picture with him (or if I’d been an attractive woman) I could have had one too.

David Caruso is a great person when it comes to his fans. He doesn’t come off with that stereotypical celebrity attitude. He’s just a regular guy–that’s why he is so well-liked.

I’m a 25 year-old female and personally no matter what he is in his pesonal life, he IS quite the attractive man and if he came up to ME and took me I were attractive I’d probably blush then jump at the chance to have a photo taken!

@Harry & Liza - I don’t really think it’s odd that he asked if she would like a picture. Several people had asked for a picture that were standing in the same general area as she was. I suspect he thought she wanted a picture but was perhaps a bit shy.

@Sue - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you’ll have to judge. No one has asked me to be on a television show tho. : )

Your wife is indeed a bit of the hotness, so Caruso has good taste.
I’ve always kind of dug him as an actor, but things like “CSI:Miami” and the clichéd and completely predictable lines they feed him have tainted my opinion.
Last night (here in Perth):
CSI Guy: Looks like somebody thought they were judge and jury on this guy.
Caruso: Yeah. Judge, jury… (dramatic pause) and Executioner.
Oof. That’s a tough one to get over. Thankfully you have a post here that makes me dig him again.
